Midwinter Moon

In this sleepy place you seem to shine the brightest, Here, among the lonely fields and trees, City lights just recollections, Playground games, consigned to memory Silver strands, sway in the sky, You’re so familiar, and a stranger, Long I’ve searched this cold, cold ground, Now the truth shines all around, The deepest part of the darkest night, You come to give the sightless sight, And bless us with your loving light, Shine on Midwinter Moon, What is here? Left behind forsaken, The fire and the forge, where young hearts burned, What will I find? Weather worn and beaten, What did I leave, in order to return? Insects dance on wispy wings, The fire devours the wood and sings, Little voices ask me where I’ve been, Is this truth or just a dream, The deepest part of the darkest night, You come to give the sightless sight, And bless us with your loving light, Shine on Midwinter Moon, shine on Midwinter Moon.

Round like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel Like a snowball down a mountain, or a carnival balloon Like a carousel that's turning running rings around the moon Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face And the world is like an apple whirling silently in space Like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind! Like a tunnel that you follow to a tunnel of its own Down a hollow to a cavern where the sun has never shone Like a door that keeps revolving in a half forgotten dream Or the ripples from a pebble someone tosses in a stream Like a clock whose hands are sweeping past the minutes of its face And the world is like an apple whirling silently in space Like the circles that you find in the windmills of your mind! Keys that jingle in your pocket, words that jangle in your head Why did summer go so quickly, was it something that you said? Lovers walking along a shore and leave their footprints in the sand Is the sound of distant drumming just the fingers of your hand? Pictures hanging in a hallway and the fragment of a song Half remembered names and faces, but to whom do they belong? When you knew that it was over you were suddenly aware That the autumn leaves were turning to the color of her hair! Like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel Never ending or beginning on an ever spinning reel As the images unwind, like the circles that you find In the windmills of your mind!

Oh Life 03:16
Night follows evening, Throw off the clothes of day, Our feet, will dance, Beneath the silent moon we’ll sway, Oh life, The leaf, will brown, then fall and die, Oh life, This Precious gift, this dance in the sky,

Feet are old friends, The heart's beat is a drum, Leaves in the breeze, Two bodies tremble as one, Oh life, The leaf will brown, then fall and die, Oh life, This Precious gift, this dance in the sky, Too busy dreaming, Shedding leaves and shutting down again, Show me right, Take me... Oh life, The leaf, will brown, then fall and die, Oh life, This Precious gift, this dance in the sky, Oh life, The leaf, will brown, then fall and die, Oh life, This Precious gift, this dance in the sky, Oh Life

Oh bright young star, where are you now, faraway from the dust that you leave in my eye? Oh bright young star, how do you sound, as you summon me like a dreamy moth to the sky? You have infinite wisdom to philosophise, we'll wish on your twinkling morse code replies You have infinite wisdom to philosophise, we'll wish on your twinkling morse code replies O Bright Young Star, halo of light, switch off all the lies in this dark bowl of night Switch off all the lies in this dark bowl of night...

When it comes to you. the path that's true, don't be afraid - go weave your way. When it comes to you, that wave of blue, no need to escape, but liberate! yeahh yeh yeh yeh... We all belong, all have a song to offer in this world, it won't be long - your heart is strong: let the symphony unfurl... Remember Love, you are not alone, Remember Love, you have wisdom in your bones, Remember Love, we all share the earth as home, Remember Love, you are never alone. ... When it comes to you. the path that's true, don't be afraid - go weave your way. When it comes to you, that wave of blue, no need to escape, just know you're great! yeahh yeh yeh yeh... We all belong, all have a song to offer in this world, it won't be long - your heart is strong: let the symphony unfurl... Remember Love, you are not alone, Remember Love, you have wisdom in your bones, Remember Love, we all share the earth as home, Remember Love, you are never alone.

about

Midwinter Blessings to you!

Through this strange year we housemates have been busy brewing some musical magic to share with you from the wilds of Wales, to bring some light to this darkest time…

We are Ailsa and Badger - we live together in Machynlleth, mid Wales, and during the lockdown of 2020 began to collaborate, bringing life to each other's unique compositions. We believe that the alchemy of our combined musicality is greater than the sum of its parts.

Here is a collection of two of each of our original songs, and one much-loved cover, which we have brought together to create this offering for the coldest months (and beyond!), EP Midwinter Moon.

Hope you enjoy!
